Shadow Lily was born in Trottingham and lived in the cities large Castle alongside her father, the Grand Master of all Knight and Guard ponies Shade Gray. Lily was surrounded and inspired by many fascinating ponies and spent much of her time reading and listening to tale after tale of their adventures. She eventually became so absorbed into these stories that she kept herself indoors; preferring to act them out (with dolls and toys) and make her own fantasy stories within the castle walls. Though he was appreciative of his daughter's creative mind, Shade constantly worried about his daughter's anti-social behavior.
One day, Shade decided to sign Lily up for classes at the Canterlot Knight Academy, hoping that the many aspiring knight and guard ponies would encourage her to talk and make new friends. At first it excited Lily and seemed like a good idea, but Lily's dislike of small talk and preference to observe others made her look awkward and strange in the eyes of many colts and fillies and drove them away, making her more alone then before. However, one squire was flattered and taken by Lily's awkward interest and eventually asked her to join her group of friends. This pony was the future Wonderbolt Captain Spitfire.
Together, Lily, Spitfire, and some other friends formed their own small group called 'Team Spitfire'. The ponies would do everything together, from misadventures, to supporting and helping each other in their times of need. It was during these happy times that Lily was inspired to write.
Even after she graduated and became a guard pony in Trottingham, Lily still has close ties to her friends. She sends them pieces of her writings from time to time to get their opinions.
- Personality:
As a creative pony at heart, there is nothing Shadow Lily likes to do more than write and utilizes much of her free time (and sometimes occupied) to work on her many stories. All it takes is a small piece of inspiration and she can fill entire shelves with her thoughts. She usually is calm, kind and opened-minded, listeing to her friends with an open heart. However, when she is inspired, Lily is difficult to talk to or understand, either by her ackward silence or her insasinable and overdrawn chatting on the subject of her interest. She also has a tendency to drift off into her mind when things around her don't catch her interest, making her clumsy and forgetful.
Surprisingly, even as a very messy and absent-minded pony, Lily takes her job as a Trottingham Guard with seriousness and pride; so much so that she is a 'no-nonsense' officer who doesn't hesitate to punish her subordinates for even being slightly out of line. She is firm, direct and blunt, following a brand of 'tough-love' taught to her by Commander Sunburst. However, she often doubts her abilities as a leader and soldier and uses her authority (or her writing) to let her emotions out.

Heh, okay this one seems more fir for a guard, haha. It's the quiet ones you need to watch out for, so a guard seems like a great job for her. And that's cool she wrote the Daring Do series, so I take it this takes place a bit before the cannon MLP gang.
